I will often walk into a classroom and see a teacher taken aback by my wardrobe choice. I might show up to an exam in a t-shirt that I cut up to bare my midriff or substitute leggings for jeans. Perhaps it was due to the freedom that I received upon entering college and not having a dress code, or maybe it’s the fact that deep down I seek attention, but all in all, I am one of the few people who is genuinely happy that the midriff in trending once again.

Once a sad phase of teens in the 90s, midriffs were happily accepted in 90s music videos and high school students. People eventually evolved into turning their noses up at them, seeing these articles of clothing as lewd. Instead of baring their stomach, girls decided to switch to plunging necklines and tube tops.
Being a girl who lacks height, has a small frame, and has quite sizable breasts for how thin she is, I cannot pull off most of these breast revealing outfits. I tried this a few times, but I am afraid to ever since this one horrific experience.
It was a typical college party night. The theme was Jersey Shore, and I decided to wear a dress that actually appeared on the show, worn by one of Snooki’s friends. It had one of these plunging necklines. I wore it only once before when I went to a Gossip Girl party as a cougar.

I was mingling and someone started to tickle me. Being violently ticklish, I flailed about and leaned over a counter, and looked to down to find that one of my breasts had popped out of my dress. There was no point in trying to stop it. Everyone at the party saw my left boob, and I left as “that girl.”
I got plenty of looks.

The same looks that I get for openly revealing my stomach to the world.
